Guiyang boosts summer retreat property market

Guiyang city in Southwest China's Guizhou province announced a comprehensive package of homebuying support policies at a news conference for the "Summer Retreat in Guiyang, Enjoy the Cool" promotional campaign on July 15. The measures include provincial housing vouchers, housing provident fund measures, incentives for trading in old apartments for new ones, and commercial mortgage support.

Guizhou issued 300 million yuan ($44.28 million) in provincial housing vouchers in June. Buyers who sign contracts for newly built commercial housing in the province between June 26 and Aug 31 can apply for vouchers worth 1.5 percent of the contract price, capped at 15,000 yuan. The provincial vouchers can be combined with homebuying incentives offered by Guiyang and its districts and counties.

Residents who sell an old apartment and purchase a newly built one by Sept 30, and pay the deed tax on the new apartment by Dec 31, can receive vouchers equivalent to 50 percent of the deed tax they paid.

Meanwhile, Guiyang's summer retreat property market is thriving, with more than 1,000 apartments sold. The share of buyers from outside the province has risen for three consecutive years, from 16 percent in 2023 to 17.4 percent in 2024 and 20 percent in 2025, highlighting Guiyang's growing appeal as a summer retreat destination.
