Guiyang's Municipal Engineering Service Center completed the removal of more than 200 abandoned road spikes and iron stakes discovered along 14 major roads in Yunyan and Nanming districts, including Zunyi Road and Ruijin Road, on May 18, improving overall road safety and travel conditions.
Most of the abandoned spikes and iron stakes were left behind after previous construction projects, advertising installations, or the dismantling of temporary facilities without timely cleanup. Some protruded above the road surface, posing serious hazards such as tripping over pedestrians or causing tire blowouts and loss of control for bicycles and electric scooters.
Elderly people, children, and individuals with disabilities were particularly vulnerable to these safety hazards.
The center said it would continue expanding the campaign in phases and that it plans to complete inspections and cleanup work on abandoned road spikes and barriers along 606 primary and secondary roads under the jurisdiction of the city's comprehensive administrative law enforcement system.
