Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province is set to establish 10 pocket parks across the city this year, aiming to enhance its urban landscape and provide its residents with ideal spots for leisure and exercise.

They include the Liuzhong Pocket Park in Yunyan district, Guanzhou Square in Nanming district, and Wenxing Park in Kaiyang county.

According to the person in charge of the park management division of the Guiyang Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau, the overarching theme for this year's pocket parks is to be both visually appealing and practical.

The city will achieve this by planting flowers and greenery, adding public fitness facilities, and incorporating leisure amenities, thereby establishing a unique theme and distinct characteristics for each park.

Throughout the design and construction of these pocket parks, emphasis will be placed on their integration with the surrounding communities and the city as a whole.

The pocket parks will prioritize aesthetics, comfort, and practicality, creating open and shared urban park spaces, while also providing versatile green areas that elevate the living environment of local residents.

For instance, the Yintai Mountain Pocket Park in Baiyun district will feature an internet-famous ginkgo leaf check-in area, unique paved reading terraces, ponds, rainwater gardens, and shaded walking trails. Once completed, this park will offer additional leisure and recreational spaces for nearby students, residents, and visitors alike.
